"Beavers are genetically wired to build dams and construct lodges."

Or, as I like to say "Beavers gotta beave."

Thank you for pointing me to reminders from Alex Sook's book on Rest -- this beaver will have to revisit it heading into a long weekend!

Love this! And what’s the Jess sims program you mentioned? I could use some more exercise and fewer choices…

Thank you! It’s the Floor Bootcamp program with Jess Sims and Selena Samuela. They just released a second one apparently, but I’m doing the original one from a few years ago. It’s hard but I highly recommend it!

Brilliant, all of this. And just what I needed to hear today.

Thank you! I might set myself a calendar reminder to re-read it every week. 😉

So needing this advice in the chaos of May/June... And maybe at most other times of the year, too!

So. Much. Chaos!!!

Today, I'm hoping to wrap up a project that I haven't been able to finish because I've set the bar too high for myself...which means that this was exactly what I needed to read this morning. (Whenever your deliberate closet newsletter goes live, I'll be the first to click on *that* one, too.) So happy that your course went swimmingly!

Finally: in honor of that excellent beaver photo, please enjoy one of my favorite cute-animal YouTube videos of all time, featuring Nibi the baby beaver: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gdwDeJpweiU

So glad that this was a timely post for you, Maddie. Thanks for your kind words and encouragement. That baby beaver video is so freaking cute. I appreciate you sharing! I can't wait to show it to my kids.

This is a simple but incredibly powerful concept. Lowering our unfair and overwhelming expectations and recognizing where we are already contributing can bring meaningful improvements in our mood and lower excessive guilt. Thank you for your writing :)

Thank YOU for your thoughtful comment, Jennifer! It's so true that our own expectations are often to blame for our feelings of overwhelm and guilt (of course, our own expectations are often constructed by society and those closest to us, but that's a topic for another day)!
